More than 300 community college leaders attended the NCACCT Law-Legislative Seminar March 19-21 at the Raleigh Marriott City Center. Speakers focused on legal issues and topics impacting NC community colleges, including economic development initiatives, strategies to support adult learners and IDD students, and the legislative session. NC House Speaker Destin Hall spoke during the Opening Luncheon and discussed how community colleges are critical to business recruitment and retention in our state. On March 19, Community College Day at the legislature was successful as Trustees and Presidents visited their legislators’ offices to advocate for the systemwide legislative priorities. That evening, sixty-two legislators attended the Legislative Reception at the Marriott and were able to network with Trustees and Presidents from their districts.
A special thanks to our speakers and presenters for leading the sessions and making this such a successful seminar, and to our Platinum Sponsors State Employees’ Credit Union, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, and Workplace Architecture + Design, and Gold Sponsor LS3P for helping make this event possible.
