Dr. Donny Hunter is the President and CEO of the North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees and President of National Search & Education Consulting.
Dr. Hunter’s public career includes service as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, superintendent, consultant with the North Carolina Public Schools, Assistant to the North Carolina Community College System President and Executive Director of the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges. In his private business he conducts searches for college presidents and provides leadership training for administrators and governing boards. He is a sought-after speaker, teacher, and facilitator with an interactive style and an approach to leadership training that emphasizes practicality and common sense rather than theories of leadership.
Dr. Hunter serves on many professional boards and committees and has received numerous awards and recognitions. He has been named the North Carolina Superintendent of the Year and received the highest civilian award given for service to the State of North Carolina when the Governor inducted him into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, citing his contributions to North Carolina’s Public Schools, Community Colleges and Universities. Dr. Hunter attended Sandhills Community College, holds a Bachelors Degree from Campbell University, a Masters Degree and Educational Specialist Degree from East Carolina University, and a PhD in Educational Research and Policy Analysis from North Carolina State University and he is a graduate of the University of North Carolina’s Executive Training program.
