It’s time to register for the NCACCT Leadership Seminar – to be held August 21-23 in Wilmington!

Please join us at the North Carolina coast this summer for the 2019 NCACCT Leadership Seminar!  This will be the perfect opportunity for new and experienced Trustees, along with Presidents, to learn about successful initiatives taking place at community colleges across NC and best practices related to apprenticeship programs, regional business collaborations and effective fund-raising for Foundations and community engagement.

Our keynote luncheon speaker on Thursday will be Mr. Scott Stump, Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the U.S. Department of Education.  Assistant Secretary Stump will discuss the Department’s areas of interest, his goals for community colleges, and the challenges and opportunities facing our institutions. There will also be a session supported by the Belk Center at NC State that will focus on education leaders’ roles in student success.

The Board Chairs Only meeting will again be held on Wednesday, and we are working with the NC Association of Community College Presidents to ensure time and space is available for meetings specifically for Presidents.  For your convenience, those of you who need Ethics Training can attend that training session immediately following the breakfast session on Friday.  We are also excited to host special entertainment at our Thursday night reception courtesy of Jackie Gore, founder of The Embers and co-writer of many beach music hits, including “I Love Beach Music”.  We look forward to ensuring that the seminar is a valuable training and networking event for all community college leaders across the state.

Be sure to mark your calendars and register for this exciting event!  Click here for more information or to register.

NCACCT Executive Board Unanimously Names Julie Woodson

New President/CEO of the NC Association of Community Trustees

The NCACCT Executive Board voted unanimously Wednesday, November 15, 2017 to name Julie Woodson as the new President/CEO of the NC Association of Community College Trustees (NCACCT). She succeeds Dr. Donny Hunter who retired from the association October 31 after 12 years of service.

Woodson has worked with the NCACCT since 2013, having served as Director of Communications and Special Projects and then as Executive Vice President for the last three years.  Previously, she worked with four other statewide membership associations, including the NC Association of Realtors, the NC Pork Council, NC Citizens for Business and Industry (now the NC Chamber) and the NC Association of School Administrators.   She is a graduate of The School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“Julie has 20 years of experience working with statewide associations in the areas of legislative advocacy and communications,” said Chairman Randy Vinson.  “With that background, along with the time she has already spent with NCACCT, we believe Julie will provide a seamless transition to ensure that our association continues to be a strong voice for community college trustees across North Carolina.”
